1st edition without the dust jacket but I don't think it ever had one. Have seen the american version (in blue). Mine is a dark reddish brown with an anchor, guns and swords on the cover. It is 1878 although it doesn't state the printing age but the inscription on the front was an award in November 1879. Someone please help. I have been searching in all the rare and collectible websites, the book appraisals,etc but still haven't seen another like mine. Two weeks into it and I don't know what to do and yes have checked libraries but to no avail. Need a genius or well informed person and I'm not paying any more money to appraisers who don't know how to appraise what they have never seen before. Please help, want to pass onto our 11 year old son who loves old things. Just want to know the value for insurance purposes, think it may be one of a kind, thank you to whoever can help and please remember I have researched and enquired on the net for two weeks so don't give me a website I've probably already found and I live in New Zealand.
