According to several Advocate articles, money for construction of the building was collected by the Louisiana Bond Commission which authorized $100 million in bonds.

"The new state courthouse under construction on North Boulevard between St. Louis and St. Ferdinand streets is not included in the city-parish budget, the 19th District Court's Judicial Expense Fund or the state Supreme Court budget. Civil court costs are servicing a $100 million bond issue for the new building , Bruce said."

Court officials got permission from the Louisiana Bond commission years ago to spend up to $100 million on the building .

The lead architect and project manager have said that the construction costs would be about $98 million, and the 19th Judicial District administrator has said the total cost was expected to be about $118 million.

Clark said there is not an official opening date for court in the new building . She said each judge will decide when they will hold court in the new facility.
