Q. When I place a hold, how do i find out how many people are ahead of me?

The number of people ahead of you is not displayed in our online catalog.  If you'd like to know approximately where you are on the waiting list, call us up at (225) 231-3740 and have your library card number handy. If you just want a rough estimate, you can look at the number of holds that are already in place on a book before you make your hold.

Because a number of factors affect when you will receive a hold, (e.g. the number of copies we purchased, overdue copies, lost, destroyed, and damaged copies etc.), please understand that your position in line for a hold is a broad and often inaccurate indicator of when the item will actually be available to you for check out.
