Absolutely! Tangipahoa is what we call a reciprocal parish for obtaining a library card with us. Here's what you'll need.
First, you need to be in good standing with the Tangipahoa library. This means no excessive, outstanding fines, or long-overdue unreturned items. This also means you need to have a library card with their system, so, it's a good time to get a card with your home parish library if you haven't already.
Second, you'll need to pick up a reciprocal parish borrowing permission form from the East Baton Rouge Parish Library and have it signed by a librarian who works at any of the Tangipahoa parish library locations. You can pick up this form at any of our branches in the East Baton Rouge Parish system. You must pick this form up in person.
Next, bring your form signed by a Tangipahoa Librarian to any EBRPL location along with a picture ID and proof of your current address.
We will then issue you a reciprocal card.
If you would like to obtain cards for your spouse, children, or other family members, all of them must present a separate, signed permission form.
If you have any questions, please give us a call at 225-231-3740 or take a look at our Library Cards and Borrowing policy online.
