At Baton Rouge, the Mississippi River is 2300 ft wide and 50 ft deep.

The widest spot in Louisiana is in East Carroll Parish at 7600 ft.; the narrowest is near Bayou Sara at 1700 ft.

The deepest point is opposite Gov. Nicholls St at the New Orleans French Quarter. There the river is 191 ft deep.
