Q. why do my children need to give a SS number for their library card?

According to the circulation department, each patron is assigned a unique ID number in our system. We need the last 4 digits of each patron's social security number to form part of this ID. If you feel uncomfortable providing the entire social security number, you may give only the last 4 digits, since that is the only part we will use.
