Normally we rip out or cut out the barcode numbers and card pockets before placing de-selected items for sale.  This is usually done by means of X-acto knife.

The glues we use to affix security devices, barcodes, and pockets to the books are meant to be permanent. We do this both because of the necessity for durable preparation of library items in anticipation of heavy use over a long period of time and in order to minimize theft for resale.

In short, there is no way that we know of to remove these in such a way that does not cause some sort of damage to the items.
