The best thing to do is to call the library at (225) 231-3740 as soon as you notice the damage. Explain the condition of the item to a staff member. If the damage is severe enough, it might not hurt to request a temporary note on your account until you have returned the item.

Often if we circulate an item with obvious but superficial damage, we'll note that damage somewhere on the book or dvd case. We try not to circulate severely damaged items, but occasionally one does slip through.

If you forget to call, don't worry about it. Whenever you return the item, mention the damage to the staff member or librarian. This way we won't wrongfully charge you for damage to an item that predated your lending period.
