We have a database called Fiction Connection that is useful for tracking down an author, it allows you to look for books by setting, time period, character traits etc. To access this go to our online database page, select Fiction Connection and enter your library card number.

I searched for South Carolina and cross referenced that with Southern Fiction. These are the most common three named writers that came back. Sue Monk Kidd, Beth Webb Hart, Effie Leland Wilder, Adrienne Ellis Reeves, Anne Rivers Siddons If you click the author you can see the books we have by them and hopefully that will ring a bell. Please let us know if none of these are who you are looking for and we'll keep looking.

  1. Anne Rivers Siddons is the author you're thinking of that writes similarly to Dorothea Benton Frank.

  2. Good answers above! I would add Mary Alice Monroe for similar novels about the same area.
