According to the papers of Camille Cazdessus (owner of the Zadok Realty Co.), the first area of the Garden District to be developed was Roseland Terrace by the Zadok Realty Co. The first houses were constructed in 1912 on Golden Rod Ave. which is now Park Boulevard.

Most of Mr. Cazedessus' collection (including pictures of the first homes) is available on line at the East Baton Rouge Parish Digital Archive.

You can learn more about local history with the Baton Rouge Room, now located in the new Main Library.
