Also known as the Old Mississippi Bridge, Huey P. Long Bridge was completed in its present form in 1940 at a cost of 10 million dollars. It was 28 years old when the New Mississippi River Bridge, the Horace P. Wilkinson Bridge, was opened in 1968.
